Fall in Niagara Region is the prettiest time of year. In fact, many recognize the Niagara Parkway as one of Canada’s best scenic routes in September and October. But Niagara has much more to offer than vibrant settings and landscapes. Especially over Thanksgiving, there are many events for families and tourists to attend!
- 40th Ball’s Falls Thanksgiving Festival Oct. 10-13 (9am-5pm), $6: Every year, this Niagara Peninsula Conversation Authority (NPCA) fundraiser brings together a bevy of artisans, musicians, brewers and farmers to celebrate Thanksgiving. Packed full with activities and entertainment, it seems that 2014 will be no different; so make plans to visit the 130 vendors setting up at Ball’s Falls Conversation Area this weekend.
- Good Earth Food and Wine Company Thanksgiving Oct. 11-13 (11am-4pm): A romantic spot to wine-and-dine this long weekend.
- Craft Show and Artfest in Vineland Oct. 11-13 (10am-5pm), Free: Vineland School will host Artfest this year, a popular crafts show held annually over Thanksgiving weekend. Similarly, at 4016 Victoria Ave., visitors can browse a collection of booths and exhibits that combine the community’s love for crafts and food.
- Ridgeway Fall Festival Oct. 11 (10am-2pm): Live music, wagon rides, food…Is there a better way to spend Thanksgiving with the family? Although further away from other main attractions, the Ridgeway Fall Festival hosts a farmers/artisan market worth checking out. Swing by Howell Family Pumpkin Farm this Thanksgiving too!
- Boo at the Zoo! Oct. 11 (10am-4pm), Adults $15: Although unrelated to Thanksgiving, Trick-or-Treating around Safari Niagara promises a good time. It’s a safe place for children to dress-up, observe animals and enjoy the beloved tradition of Halloween.
