In only six days, children will put on their costumes and trick-or-treat around Niagara neighbourhoods in celebration of Halloween 2014. For the brave, they can also take the weekend of the 31st to visit Niagara Falls’ tourist district, where scare houses relish this freaky holiday and up-the-ante. But for those who are looking for something else to do, consider the following events that are bound to get a few squeals and smiles.
Welland Zombie Walk
Although happening this Sunday, the parade earns a place on this list. Upward of 500 people will walk with the dead this year, so put on your deadly rags and makeup and hobble out onto the streets of Welland. Similar events run in Niagara during October, such as survival runs and camps, as detailed on Welland Tribute’s website.
Fort George Ghost Tours
Visit Fort George on or before Halloween for a two-hour tour of this historic landmark’s haunted grounds.
The Rocky Horror Show
Richard O’Brien promotes the 12th annual production of The Rock Horror Show this month, a Dinner Theatre event responsible for more than $57,000 towards AIDS Niagara. Note that this is an adult-only event.
Haunt Manor
Campark Resort runs a Haunt Manor like none other. Hosting the event on a “historically haunted site” from 1812, the resort invites only the daring to enter through the Witch Cavern Hayride and survive the scariest setup in Canada. Pass by the Crypt of Darkness, the Chambers of Terror and the Battle of Lundy’s Lane, with a surprise performance from Marin Short, a magician/illusionist from Canada’s Got Talent, along the way.
Halloween Pub Crawl
Margaritaville (6300 Fallsview Blvd.) to Ghost Bar (5400 Robinson St.) to Club 7 (5400 Robinson St.): Get your GCParty bracelet for access to these three clubs on Halloween night!
Howell Family Pumpkin Farm
This family-friendly event hosts pumpkin picking and carving activities, petting zoos, wagon rides, a corn maze and more—not to mention the Haunted Spook Barn!
