Touch a Truck Event Niagara RegionWho doesn’t love trucks? The raw power, the gargantuan size, the utility…Children, in particular, find trucks exciting, which is why the last five Touch a Truck seasons have been a success. Last year, more than 2,500 children and their parents/guardians attended the event, raising close to $16,000 through ticket sales and donations. This, combined with earnings from 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2010, brings the fundraiser’s total to nearly $48,000. Families should prepare for yet another Touch a Truck event coming 4 Oct. 2014 to Niagara College!

In partnership with the Regional Chair Early Years Niagara Literary Award, Touch a Truck events have added more than 4,000 award-winning books to regional childcare centres since beginning in 2005.  As a volunteer-run event, all proceeds go towards improving children’s literacy in Niagara Region by making quality books accessible to children under six years of age. Furthermore, as residents note each year, the Touch a Truck event is also great fun for the whole family.

Like every year, Touch a Truck administrators recognize and commend the various organizations and sponsors who show support: Brand Blvd., Book Depot, Early Years Niagara Planning Council, Kal Tire, Niagara College, Niagara Helicopter, Niagara Region, Niagara Regional Police Services, Ontario Early Years Centres, RBC, Rotary Clubs of Niagara, Niagara Falls Review, The Welland Tribune, The St. Catharines Standard, TV Cogeco, and Walker Industries Limited.
